The Davis Family
Melton was the son of John F. Davis and Mary Pauline Perkins; husband of Ursula (Sula) Miley (married 1875). Twin brother of Clinton Davis.

Born in west Florida; moved to Hillborough County in 1865. He was a locally well-known country fiddler and early homesteader of Hillsborough County, settling originally on Morris Bridge Road in what is now Tampa before spending his last years in Thonotosassa. He lived to be 100 and was considered as a grandfather by everyone and was an invaluable source for stories of the early history of the area.
