The political opinion of an ole country boy. The pollsters never call, the media and the politicians pretend to speak for me but what they say doesn't reflect my views. |

One Light Bulb at a Time
A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American ... Good idea .. . one light bulb at a time . . . . Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments . They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking .. In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job . So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track . Let's get behind her! My grandson likes Hershey's candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now.. I do not buy it any more. My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico ... now I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything .. This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, "Everyday Value . " I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price .. The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio . So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here .. So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets . .. . yep, you guessed it, bounce cost more money and is made in Canada . The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA ! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price! My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors! If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies! (We should have awakened a decade ago .. . .. . .. . ) Let's get with the program . . . .. help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the U . S . A .. I Passed this on ......... will you ??????? 1 Trillion dollars added to deficit It is now official President Obama and the current Democratic congress have added a TRILLION DOLLARS to the deficit in six months since they took office back in January. It took President Bush and the Republicans 2 1/2 years in 2001 to add that much to the deficit and they had their own inherited recession along with two wars to prosecute, the dot com bubble and corporate scandals created under President Clinton, included in that amount. Who is responsible for our ballooning deficits? There has been a lot of talk about how the Republicans and President George W. Bush added to the deficit. What is missing in this talk, however, is one very important factor. The Democrats have been in charge of Congress since the 2006 elections and it is Congress that really controls spending in this country. The Treasury Department's The Debt to the Penny website reveals the following spending pattern under the Republicans versus the Democrats: January 2001 - January 2007 491 billion average annual deficit. (Republican Control) January 2007 - January 2009 976 billion average annual deficit. (Democrat Control) This same site shows that since President Obama took office (6 months) the Democrats have added a trillion dollars to the total deficit. Report Card on the 1st 100 days There has been a lot of talk about Mr. Obama's first 100 days in office. The opinions are varied so here is my take along with my reasons for the grade.:
Talk about unconstitutional!!!! "Last month, President Obama issued an executive order that allows government agencies to limit large federal construction projects to unionized contractors. The order reversed a directive under former President George W. Bush." How the hell can the President of the United States mandate such a political payoff??? And the Democratic party had the balls to demonize President George W. Bush for the measures he took to protect us in the War on Terror!!! How to predict what the President will do. I have developed a rule in order to figure out what President Obama means when he says something. It is this: If he says something just look 180° and you will know what he intends to do. He said he wasn't going to allow lobbyists to work in his administration. He has been busy handing out those convenient excuse slips. He says he is going to have the most ethical administration ever. He has a tax cheat as his Secretary of Treasury and several other tax cheats withdrew their names from consideration when the heat got too great. He said he was going to give the public time to comment on new bills before they were signed into law. Has that happened yet? He said he wants to be bi-partisan but he hired the most partisan of people to be his chief of staff and now we learn that he has brought the Carville-Begala dirty tricks team on board to go after people that disagree with him. Need I go on? The so-called Stimulus Bill The whole scenario surrounding this bill reeks of boondoggle. I mean if you want a recipe for disaster this is it. You simply allow one party to write and pass a bill without any input from the other party. Now that is "bipartisan", NOT!!!! Add to that the rush to pass this bill which prevents anyone from knowing what is in it before it is passed. I guess that is what the President and Congress want. If we knew would we stand for it becoming law??? Energy I have been listening to President Obama talk about how we need to develop alternate energy sources for quite a while. He talks about wind, solar and other exotic fuel sources. What he doesn't talk much about is energy sources that already have developed technology to support them like atomic, oil, coal, oil shale and natural gas. There are enough reserves of natural gas alone to provide for our energy needs for many, many years. This is what I think we need to do to solve our energy needs and assure our national security:
Obama Watch List When President Obama was elected it looked like he intended to run a very left wing government. At least if you listened to what he said throughout the campaign, that is the conclusion you surely would have come to. After the election all of the news pundits were falling over themselves claiming he had shifted to the center because he had now seen "reality". Well guess what? The pundits were wrong as is the case too many times. He has only been in office a few days and already he is starting to implement his left wing agenda. I have decided to start what I will call the "The Obama List". On the right side I will list what I consider the good things he has done and on the left the things that I see as a danger to this country.
Hurricane Gustav proves the Democrats lied about Hurricane Katrina The Democrats screwed up big time in Hurricane Katrina but managed with the cooperation of the press to lie their way out of their incompetence. First off Mayor Nagin didn't bother to make sure all everyone had a way to escape the wrath of Katrina in spite of the fact that there were over 2,000 buses available to do so. His excuse - he didn't know where to take them. How about out of harm's way!!! He also didn't order evacuations early enough because he was worried about the bad press in case the hurricane didn't hit New Orleans. Better to err on the side of caution I think!! Then we have the Democratic governor who not only didn't call in the National Guard soon enough but refused to allow the federal government permission to get involved early on. The Democrats started blaming President Bush for Katrina before the storm hit and as a result of their lies the President suffered greatly in the polls. This time around we have a Republican governor and the outcome is totally different. Evacuations went smoothly and almost 95% of the people left the city. My guess is that the press will not do many stories about this success. More idiocy from the Supreme Court The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the terrorists being held in Guantanamo Bay have the right to challenge their imprisonment (writ of habeas corpus). How stupid can we be folks. We are in a war. Never before have POW's been able to access our courts but instead stayed in prison until the war was over. I just don't know why these left wing loons keep throwing roadblocks in the way of properly fighting this war on terror. And in spite of what some people are saying we are in a war with Radical Islam and it is a war to the death. Either their deaths or ours!!! Our founding father are turning over in their graves and may come back to haunt us. Restart Yeah, yeah I know I haven't updated this thing for a very long time but I got wrapped up with a new undertaking. I am researching cemeteries in Hillsborough County, Florida and it has become almost a passion for me but with the candidates for President of The United States in the final stages of being selected in each party I feel it is time to get back here and express my feelings. I have to be honest I am not thrilled with the idea of John McCain becoming the Republican standard bearer. However, when I look at who is left on the Democratic side and the positions they represent, I feel great fear for my country that I love so much especially in the area of national security. I simply do NOT believe that either Barrack Obama or Hillary Clinton will protect up from the horrors of what the Islamic extremists will certainly do to our country unless we continue the war on terror using every available tool to win that war. Over the coming days and weeks I will outline specifically what I think is wrong with where the Democrats want to take this county. Israel & terrorists Hezbollah terrorists attacked Israel over a week ago. Initially world opinion was on the side of the Israelis, and rightly so, since they were the ones who were attacked for absolutely no reason at all. Now all of a sudden we have all kinds of people like Kofi Annan and the pope criticizing Israel. Kofi Annan hasn't even bothered to do anything about United Nations resolutions which might have avoided this confrontation and yet he has the gall to criticize Israel. The pope of course heads that organization that can't seem to control the sexual urges of its' priests but wants to tell everyone else how they should run their lives. They are both hypocrites! Now some people are saying that Israel is over-reacting by using too much force. The idea of proportional force is one of the more stupid ideas to come along. Historically people and nations use all the force they can muster to repel attacks of this nature. Another silly notion is that a cease fire can be negotiated with the terrorists. Getting it right Well two good things happened today. First The Supreme Court of Massachusetts ruled that a constitutional amendment petition is legally constituted and as such will be voted on by the people which is the proper forum for deciding these type of issues and not in some agenda driven court. Next a federal judge ruled that the search of Congressman's Jefferson's office was legal. There never was any doubt in my mind but somehow a lot of people just don't understand the "felony" exception in the constitution. Here is the exact wording: "They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest........" To say otherwise would allow congressmen to run criminal enterprises out of their congressional offices and put them above the law which cannot be tolerated in this country. Political lies Why do critics of the administration insist on down playing and lying about the Bush Administration? In an article titled "Surprise Tax Revenue To Shave $100 Billion Off U.S. Deficit" in the local paper I found a re-print of a New York Times article by Edmund L. Andrews in which he wrote "Democrats and many independent budget analysts note that revenue has barely climbed back to the levels reached in 2000". In the 2007 budget which you can view here I found the following revenue figures:
2000 - $2,025,457 As anyone can plainly see revenues surpassed the 2000 levels in 2005. This year they are expected to be 400 Billion above 2000 levels. That is a LOT of money!! That in spite of a recession caused by the dot com failures, the 9/11 attacks and massive tax cuts. So much for the naysayers!!
2001 - $1,991,426 2002 - $1,853,395 2003 - $1,782,532 2004 - $1,880,279 2005 - $2,153,859 2006 - $2,400,000 est. Divulging national secrets Well here we go again. The press has taken it upon themselves to divulge another national security secret. I am talking about the plot to blow up the some tunnels in New York City. The FBI asked the media not to publish this story but they did it anyway. We need what Britain has and that is an Official Secrets Act. We simply cannot continue to allow the media to determine when it is ok to publish these national security stories. There needs to be absolutely no wiggle room in this law but clearly spell out very severe penalties including jail time for the reporters and their publishers. Media Lies Listening to the news is just like listening to politicians. There may be a small grain of truth somewhere in what they say but all too often it is next to impossible to find it. A case in point is the issue of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The media and all too many politicians would have you believe that Iraq didn't have any when we invaded in 2003. In spite of all the distortions and outright lies the truth is slowly coming out. There were indeed weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Now we are finding out that Saddam Hussein not only had ties to terrorists but he had ties to al-Qaeda and also the Taliban in Afghanistan. Now in spite of lies to the contrary, the administration never told us about these ties. It looks to this ole country boy that the President undersold the reasons to go to war with Iraq instead of vice versa as his political enemies would have you believe. Immigration reform The House Republicans are taking their immigration on the road in order to garner support for their version of fixing the illegal immigration problem. What I find troubling in all of the talk about this issue is the the back seat that national security seems to have taken. For example most of the talk is about weather citizenship should be granted or not. There is very little talk about finding and identifying those illegals already here and no talk whatsoever about the Canadian border and the potential for incursion by terrorists there. This in my mind is what this dialog should be all about. Citizenship, benefits, guest workers blah, blah, blah - these should all be given much lower priority. First and foremost should be finding out if and where any terrorists are that are among us and preventing any more from gaining entry. The New York Times The Democrats must love the New York Times. I found the following quote by Frank Rich of The New York Times on July 2, 2006 on the front page of their website today: "No sooner were the flag burners hustled offstage than a new traitor was unveiled for the Fourth: the press. Public enemy No. 1 is The New York Times, which was accused of a ''disgraceful'' compromise of national security (by President Bush) and treason (by Representative Peter King of New York and the Coulter amen chorus). The Time's offense was to publish a front-page article about a comprehensive American effort to track terrorists with the aid of a Belgian consortium, Swift, which serves as a clearinghouse for some 7,800 financial institutions in 200 countries. It was a solid piece of journalism..." "solid piece of journalism" - REALLY! It was a solid piece of aiding and abetting the enemy. Of course the New York Times is desperate to justify their latest foray into the destruction of the safety of the American People. I firmly believe that the New York Times should have a class action lawsuit instituted against it for endangering our lives. I have emailed numerous newspeople and lawmakers to that effect. Maybe if they had to pay out a billion or so dollars for these indiscretions they would think twice before they print our national secrets. I know, I know, we have freedom of the press but that doesn't relieve them of the responsibility of their actions. The unruly judiciary Every July 4th we celebrate the birth of our country. One would think that after all this time we would have figured out what our constitution means. The ones who seem to have the most problem with it is our judges. They have made a mockery of the words our founding fathers wrote in the constitution well over 200 years ago. For example in the 1st amendment it says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;". My simple country boy mind tells me that that phrase means that the government can't force a religion on me nor prevent me from practicing my religious beliefs. No where can I find a reference to a separation between church and state that has become so prevalent in judicial rulings. The judges have so corrupted that simple meaning that we no longer are sure what it means in a court of law. If you are speaking of sex it is against the law in the name of "protecting children". If you are speaking about buying beer, it is against the law in many places to buy it before about noon on Sunday I guess because you are supposed to be in church and not buying beer. If it has to do with a cross or the Ten Commandments on public property, it has been ruled unconstitutional in numerous instances even though the Ten Commandments still are on display in the Supreme Court. Figure that one out if you can!! Personally I think the judiciary have made a mockery of the English language when it comes to interpreting laws and the constitution. Another ruling that defy common sense is the recent ruling involving terrorists in the Hamden Vs. Rumsfeld ruling. In that ruling we find that laws apparently properly passed by Congress don't apply to the Supreme Court whereas international laws do apply. In this case the judiciary is endangering our very well being. I deeply resent them doing that. Too bad we can't vote them out of office!!! About me I'm just an ole country boy and as such most political pundits and the powers that be don't rate people like me very high on their priorities. Maybe it's because we don't speak out that much or maybe it's because there aren't enough of us to make a difference. In this day and age you have to make a politician believe that your vote will make a difference in weather they get re-elected or not. Otherwise they simply ignore you. Not being a member of some minority group or another doesn't help either. In spite of all this I have my opinion just like everyone else so I decided to publish mine on my website. I will be commenting mostly on current events and hope everyone who reads this page enjoys it.
